Welcome to PDFSlick Sync. We value your privacy and are committed to
protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we handle data for
our application and real-time PDF collaboration platform.
1. Information We Collect & Process
- Account Data: When you register, we collect your email address
and name.
- Collaboration Data: To enable real-time features, we process
and store synchronization data (CRDTs), including cursor positions, active users,
and presence information.
- Annotation & Comment Data: We store the metadata you create,
such as text highlights, drawings, sticky notes, and comments. This data is
linked to a specific document ID so it can be reloaded when you return.
- Technical Data: We may collect your IP address and browser
type for security monitoring and to maintain WebSocket connections.
2. Document Privacy
We do not store your PDF documents. Our service operates as
an annotation layer. When you open a PDF document, the file is processed locally in your
browser. Our servers only store the annotations, comments, and collaboration
states associated with that file.
- We do not have access to the underlying content of your PDF files unless
it is explicitly included in an annotation or comment.
- The original PDF remains on your local device or your chosen third-party
storage provider.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your information to:
- Synchronize annotations and comments between multiple users in real-time.
- Persist your collaborative work so it is available in future sessions.
- Communicate technical updates or support responses.
4. Data Storage and Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your metadata:
- Infrastructure: We use Cloudflare Services, and Postgres DB
for synchronization and storage.
- Encryption: All data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Stored
annotations are protected using industry-standard encryption at rest.
5. Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of trusted providers to run our service (Cloudflare,
Stack Auth, Neon)
6. Your Rights
You have the right to access, export, or delete your account and all
associated annotation/comment data at any time through your account
settings.
